  • AC = Air-Conditioning
  • Academic Year = Includes the fall and spring semesters. Please visit our Summer Housing web site for summer rates.
  • Double as Single = A double room occupied by only one resident. Doubles as Singles are available only if space permits. In Martin Hall, Doubles as Singles are not available in corner or lofted suites. All furniture will remain in the room / apartment.
  • MP = Yes indicates a Meal Plan is required in this area.
  • Triple as Double = A double room occupied by only two residents. Triples as Doubles are available only if space permits and only so long as both remaining residents agree to the arrangement. All furniture will remain in the room.
  • WB = Yes indicates the building is open during Winter Break. All other buildings close.

In addition to the rates listed, all residence hall and apartment residents are assessed mandatory dues which contribute to programming and upkeep of community-owned equipment. Please review the Terms and Conditions for specific dues information.

Schilletter (SV) and University (UV) Villages Apartment Rates

All rates are per apartment, per semester and include all utilities except phone, gas and electricity. The numbers of apartments listed is how many of each type exist, not how many are currently available for assignment.

  • In single student one bedroom or two bedroom PRIVATE units, one occupant pays the entire rent.
  • In single student two bedroom, SHARED units, two occupants each pay one half of the rent.
  • In family apartments, one contracted resident pays the rent for the apartment.

Monthly vs. Semester Billing

  • One half of the rate is billed at the start of each semester.
    • Monthly billing may be requested on-line in AccessPlus.
    • The deadlines to request this option are: July 15 for fall, December 15 for spring and April 15 for summer.
    • Some residents, such as those with past payment issues (determined by the AR office), will not be permitted to exercise this option.

Pet Apartment Specific Information

  • Residents of pet-friendly apartments are charged the Pet rate regardless of whether or not they actually have a pet.
  • In SHARED pet apartments, if one roommate leaves, the apartment automatically reverts to PRIVATE until the remaining resident finds their own new roommate.

Rate Approval Process

All rates for housing and dining are presented to and approved by the Board of Regents, State of Iowa. The proposed rates are presented to the Board at their March meeting; final approval is made at the April or May meetings. Prior to the time that rates are approved, posted rates are for illustrative purposes only and are subject to change. The Board reserves the right to change rates during the term of the contract by giving 30 days advance notice. If rates increase during the term of the contract, an e-mail notice will be sent to all impacted residents informing them of the change. Residents have 20 days from the date of notification to cancel their contracts without penalty.
