- The ABE LC focuses on creating a learning environment that enhances our freshmen, sophomore, and junior students academic experience at ISU. Our freshmen learning community focuses on linking freshman composition with our freshman engineering courses. The sophomore and junior learning community focuses on linking our agricultural engineering fundamentals course with engineering statistics, technical writing, and biological sciences. Upperclassmen serve as in-class mentors to help facilitate meaningful discussions and interaction opportunities for the learning community students. Faculty interaction is also a key focus of these learning communities. Several social and service learning events take place over the academic year.
